The ActiGraph LEAP™ Core is a streamlined, research-grade wearable device purposefully designed for academic institutions and healthcare researchers seeking validated digital measurement tools within budget-conscious environments. Built on the same trusted LEAP hardware platform, LEAP Core delivers high-quality accelerometry and gyroscope data in a fit-for-purpose configuration optimised for longitudinal research and large-scale population studies.

 

Designed for studies where photoplethysmography (PPG) and advanced physiological endpoints are NOT required, the LEAP Core maintains the same participant-friendly wearable form factor, touchscreen interface, software compatibility, and data continuity researchers expect from the LEAP ecosystem. PPG functionality is permanently disabled via firmware, enabling a more cost-effective solution without compromising validated activity and movement data streams essential for cohort comparability and ongoing research continuity.

 

Fully compatible with both ActiLife® and CentrePoint® software platforms, the LEAP Core supports flexible study designs across wrist, waist, ankle, and upper arm wear positions using the existing LEAP accessory ecosystem. The device preserves the same reliable accelerometer and gyroscope performance trusted across academic and public health research applications while aligning with today’s funding realities and operational requirements.
